What's my Destiny

Image
"The Lord has set in our hearts what we are to become in our life, Jeremiah 1:5 KJV Before I formed thee in the belly a I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified b thee, and I ordained c thee a prophet unto the nations: that was the lord speaking to Jeremiah telling him about his destiny" I have heard this preaching a ton of times in the two decades I've spent on planet earth, but I still battle with what my destiny is, Is it a an unnatural element deposited in me before birth or a road I must find after birth that is tailored for me. If it's the latter, then how do I discover what that deposit is, how do I access what I know nothing about. If it's the former, how do I find out the path, and what would keep me on it. To be honest, I'm probably this lost because I haven't heard from God, maybe I have but I use my intuition and instincts more. It has also saved me from a lot of stress (Insert laughing memes). Maybe that's m

Open Mindedness

Being open-minded can be really tough sometimes. Most of us are brought up with a set of beliefs and values and, throughout our lives, tend to surround ourselves with people who share the same values and beliefs. Therefore, it can be difficult when we're faced with ideas that challenge our own and, though we may wish to be open-minded, we may struggle with the act of it from time to time .  Though it can be tough to do sometimes, I've always found that when I open my mind, I've reaped a lot of rewarding benefits. There is much to be gained from opening the door to your mind and letting new ideas and beliefs come in. Here are just a few of the benefits I've uncovered when I've taken the time to view the world around me with an open mind...  BENEFITS OF BEING OPEN MINDED • Experiencing changes.  Opening up your mind to new ideas allows you to the opportunity to change what you think and how you view the world. Now, this doesn't mean you necessarily will change y

Toxic Feminism

Image
1999 movie The Matrix, in which protagonist Neo is presented with a choice between two pills: one red, one blue. If he takes the blue pill, he continues to live in an illusory world in a state of blissful ignorance. If he takes the red pill, however, he will shed this mantle of ignorance and the truth will be revealed to him. 'feminism' 'radical feminism' Feminism is a range of social movements, political movements, and ideologies that aim to define, establish, and achieve the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes. ... Changes in dress and acceptable physical activity have often been part of feminist movements. Recently , I was browsing through the comment threads on my twitter feed and began to see a string of comments which bore all of the hallmark characteristics of the usual Toxic Masculinity that feminists are accustomed to. Angry, aggressive, hostile, confused, selfish, emotionally repressed to the point where every interaction

Online stores.

Image
There are 3 annoying things that Nigerian online stores do, I see it everyday but I just cringe in anger . 1. "DM for price" like you don't have to say this everytime you put on an ad for a product you're selling...like are you counting the number of people who enter your DM's, it doesn't make business sense. I've also noticed that they then give outrageous prices, like really outrageous prices. I believe they do this because they want to sell at a different price to you, based on your IG account, just like market people price you according to your car 😂. 2. "Outrageous prices" this is the most annoying I've seen, because some people just assume that because they are selling on IG and Twitter and WhatsApp, they can charge what ever they feel, they forget I can just stroll to ABA or Balogun to get the same thing. It's those that sell clothes that do this alot. 10k for 5k shirt then you hear minus delivery. 😂😂, you

My Minority Story

Image
I'm tired of many things, tribalism has gotten the better of us, we turn stereotypes to comedy. I'm Edo, the first comment I get when someone finds out is, you have strong juju somewhere, I go to Benin, many of you won't understand, but there is more than one ethnic group in Edo state, I'm actually esan. In Benin I'm immediately looked on with scorn an hatred by a Benin person once I say my name with the right inflections. The aura of negativity I'd get is immense. Little wonder why an esan person is quick to identify as Benin, or is haste to leave Edo state for a better life. In the search for a better life in a more conducive environment, which is the nature of man and animals, to do better in favourable conditions,  the esan person would take his certificate and personal items to another state, my dad chose Port Harcourt, Rivers state.  Here you begin to struggle with the "indigene tag" where an ikwere or calabari person is more entitled to a positi

BESTIE'S vs BABY

I was scrolling through my whatsapp stories when I came across a post from someone saying " bestie is the real deal, dating is just a title". I was visibly pissed and you might say triggered. I'm sure we have also come across similar joke's from our Instagram comedians in their skits.  The role of a best friend/bestie has been so devalued lately in Nigeria. Where we are supposed to value the individuality of a bestie of the opposite gender, I hear it's more about sexualy escapades at the expense of one party being in a relationship with someone else.  This doesn't sit right with me in any sense, cause I'm a Disney child, I grew up with SHAKE IT UP (CeCe and Rocky), AUSTIN AND ALLY (the two secondary characters) where the definition of a best friend was someone who would stick to you no matter the situation and gear you up to perform at your best and vice versa.  It wasn't a pathetic excuse to cheat,  it's supposed to be you putting your hormones in

BLUE TICKS

Welcome back 🙂, it's been a very long time. Here's a piece I've been working on lately, please enjoy and leave a comment.🤗🤗 Intance, I'm texting a girl, probably in the night like 8pm, we're going on back to back, had a cool night. Two days after I texted again just to check up on you, the next thing is that you've left me on read....  I'm pissed already by this point. I try to calm myself, I'm not really a patient person. I try to ignore checking if like 2hrs after being left on read I'm not given a reply because at this point it's up to the person who is viewing it to scroll down to reply. This then depends on your level of importance to the person. A day after I text again and I get the same cycle. The blue tick with no reply.  This is why I don't text much, cause I hate being left on read. But there are genuine reasons why you can be left on read... * The person is busy *The person has forgotten they opened the message *The person has
